On the morning of October 31, 2023, Alice closed her eyes for eternal rest. Alice was born on April 12, 1935 in Columbia, Tennessee.

Alice was preceded in death by her mother Mary (Sawyers) Dowell, father Palmer James Harlan II and son Frederick Joyce. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Mrs. Janet Lowe (Winston), Glen Allen, VA., son, Mr. Garry Joyce (Carla), Nashville, TN., two sisters, Pamelia Hargrove (Edward), Julie Johnson (Donald), Nashville, TN, one brother, Palmer J. Harlan III, Columbia, TN., step-brother, Lamont Dowell (Deidra), Nashville, TN., devoted cousin Ms. Theresa Holt, Nashville, TN.; grandchildren, Chase, Cayman (Caitlyn), Nia, Misty, Frederick, Zachery, Tiffany, Carlee, three great-grandchildren, and several nephews and cousins.
