Mrs. Auna Gae Waller, age 68, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 18, 2023, at her home.

Auna was born August 8, 1954, in Harrisburg, IL, daughter of the late Ernest and Betty Arms, and was the stepdaughter of the late Dr. Grover Sloan.

Auna was an active member of Saint Patrick's Anglican Church in Murfreesboro, TN, an exceptional Nurse Practitioner, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had an incredible zest for life and loved cooking, anything having to do with flamingos, and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Cookie bakeoffs, pumpkin carvings, and Easter egg decorating were but a few of her favorite ways to engage with family.

Auna began working in doctor office and hospital settings while still in high school. She received her BSN from Mississippi College in 1976, and MSN from Ole Miss in 1980. She was one of the earliest master's degree nurses to become a certified Nurse Practitioner and held a variety of positions in family health and mental health. She served as the nurse on several missionary trips to Central America and Puerto Rico; and she dearly loved helping people however and wherever she could.

Auna was preceded in death by her son Aaron Waller, stepbrothers Bruce Sloan and Ashley Sloan, and former husband Mike Searcy.

Auna is survived by her husband Alan Waller, four children Emily Waller, Kate Freeman, Holly Rowland and Bob Waller, eight grandchildren Aurelie Eve, Levi Busby, Ethan Freeman, Layla Freeman, Liam Freeman, Jasmine Rogers, Xavier Rowland and Haven Rowland; half-brother Wendel Arms, stepsiblings Steve Sloan, Warren Sloan and Elizabeth Sloan, and many other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.

Funeral services will be indoors at Saint Patrick's Anglican Church in Murfreesboro, TN on Friday, January 27, 2023. Early visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Burial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. with a second opportunity for visitation following the service.
