Obituary

Carlos Orlando (Jim) Buenahora of Nashville, TN passed away peacefully on November 27, 2021 surrounded by family.  It was the end of a valiant four month battle with pancreatic cancer that left him weak but with no regrets.

Jim was born on April 11, 1960 in Bogota, Colombia and was the first child of Arturo and Maritza (Bernal) Buenahora.  In 1965, he moved with his parents and three little sisters to Nashville, TN where the family would grow with the addition of another sister and a brother.  As a big brother, he paved the way for the family as they learned the language and the ways of a new world, including the mysterious holiday in November where you got out of school to eat turkey.

After graduation from Father Ryan High School in 1979, Orlando went to the University of Tennessee where he would graduate with a BS in Communications. His love for the Vols would never waver the rest of his life as he attended as many games with friends and family as he could. Professionally he spent over thirty years in sales in the telecom arena representing companies such as Marconi, Graybar, Emerson and AT&T.  He broke a handful of sales records in his time in this space which allowed him to walk away and open a restaurant in Atlanta, GA.  Following that, he returned to Nashville and ultimately accepted a position with Dell.

Jim loved to sit and have a drink with friends and family and talk about anything and everything imaginable.  And while some of his opinions were unconventional, they were all well researched and passionate. He was a great son, big brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.

Jim leaves behind his mother, Maritza Buenahora of Nashville, TN, siblings Sandra (Matt) Crooks of Atlanta, GA, Ana (Brian) Steele of Farmington, CT, Cristina (Andrew) Barr of St. Augustine, FL, Pilar (John) Jenkins of Nashville, TN and Arturo (Jessica) Buenahora of Nashville, TN. Additionally, he leaves a host of nephews, nieces and grand nieces who will miss their Uncle O.  A private service will be held at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Alive Hospice.  The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences on line at www.simplecremationtn.com
