With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Catlin James Willis, affectionately known as "Rudy," who left this world on August 5, 2025, at the age of 38. Born on January 22, 1987, in Orlando, Florida, Rudy radiated an adventurous spirit and lived life with a passion that touched all who knew him.
Rudy is survived by his devoted father, James Lee Willis, and his loving stepmother, Jamie (Price) Willis. He was a proud father to his two beloved children, Kaden James Willis, age 14, and Alexzandra Pearl Willis, age 10. Rudy cherished every moment with his kids, imparting his love for swimming, traveling, hiking, and fishing to them. He would often enthusiastically share stories about his desire to explore blacksmithing and welding, as well as his fond memories of playing high school football.
In addition to his children, Rudy is survived by a close-knit family that includes his sister, Crystal Michelle Willis (Beau) Palone. Brother, Robert Neil (Julie) Doremus. He also shared a special bond with his triplet sisters, Jacy Leigh Willis and Amanda Marie Willis. He was a big brother to James Logan, (Stephaine) Shaw, Amanda (Andrew) Hinson, Micaylah Isom (Theron) Peterson, Samuel Quinton Shaw, Catherine Octavia Shaw (Draden) Smotherman, Lindsay Price.He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews: Corey (Holyn) Doremus, Brittany (Jordan) Mayo, Kenize Palone, Emily Palone, Melody Shaw, Barron Shaw, Emma Piercey, Lydia Hinson, Everly Hinson, Fleecie Smotherman, Theodore Smotherman, Camina Shaw, Jewellian Peterson.
Rudy was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Catherine Marie (Dunn) Shaw, and his stepfather, Quinton Shaw. The legacy of love and family, which Rudy held so dear, continues through the lives he touched.
Rudy had a profound love for his Irish heritage, and one of his favorite pastimes was rooting for Florida State University football. He found joy in watching the movie "Four Brothers," dancing, snorkeling, and horseback riding. His adventurous spirit, combined with a zest for life, made him a cherished friend to many who will remember him for his kindness, loyalty, and infectious laughter.
A visitation will be held August 17, 2025 from 4 PM to 5 PM and a Celebration of Life at 5 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1401 Lee Victory Parkway, Smyrna, TN 37167.
Rudy's life, though far too short, was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and joy that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him. As we bid farewell to our beloved "Rudy," may we remember to embrace the adventurous spirit he embodied and carry forward the love he shared with us. Rest in peace, dear Rudy. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
