Chester Thay
Bowen (Bubba)
September 14, 1952 – April 1, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chester Thay Bowen, affectionately known as Bubba, who left this world on April 1, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on September 14, 1952, in McNair, Texas, Chester lived a life filled with love, family, and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.
Chester was the son of Thadlin Bowen and Dubois Bowen, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his brothers Terry Bowen, Jimmy Bowen, Payton Bowen, Alfred Sherman, and Steve Brown, and sisters Carol Bowen and Darnell Sherman. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Hill Bowen, and his devoted daughter, Tamara Hill. Chester took great pride in his role as a grandfather and is survived by his cherished grandchildren: Sharell Williams, Windell Smith Jr., Bryston Hill, Joseph Hill, and ThaMon Charlot. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Mihunquie Williams, ArrRihanna Webb, Zyhon Williams, Stormee Ruffin, and Asiash Douglass.
Chester's family was his greatest joy, and he valued the bonds he shared with his sisters, Betty Bowen and Vanessa Bowen, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who looked up to him. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Chester spent many years working as part of his community and workforce, dedicating much of his life to Can Go Trucking and Bowen Bonding Company before retiring from Gulf Coast Maintenance. He was a proud alumnus of Carver School, where he laid the foundation for his lifelong commitment to hard work and perseverance.
While Chester's life was defined by his responsibilities, he also found time to enjoy the simple pleasures that life had to offer. As a simple man, his interests and hobbies were few, but those who knew him understood that his true passion lay in spending quality time with his family.
Chester's visitation will be at Frazier Funeral Home on April 19th, 2025, at 7623 Harrison St, McNair, TX. From 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Chester Thay Bowen will be remembered not only for the love he shared but also for the strength and resilience he demonstrated throughout his life. His spirit will live on in the lives of those he touched, and his legacy will be carried forward by his loving family.
As we say goodbye to Chester, we take solace in knowing that he has reunited with his loved ones who preceded him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by love and light.
