Curtis Lee
Taylor
June 3, 1937 – August 14, 2022
Curtis Lee Taylor passed peacefully in Antioch, Davidson County, Tennessee on August 14, 2022.
He was born June 3, 1937, in Graves Mill, Virginia to the late Elmer Johnny and Mildred McDaniel Taylor. He was preceded in death by daughter, Rhonda Dianne Taylor.
Curtis leaves behind his loving family, Daughters Sherry Lynn Taylor Kelly, Sam Miller, Retired USAF MSgt Debra Christine Taylor Nunamacher and husband Thomas; Grandchildren, Sadie Marie Miller, John Christian Revell, and James Nicholas Revell. Former wife and mother of his children, Shelby Jean Call Hull. Brothers Johnny Taylor and Solange, and Raymond (Khaki) Taylor and wife Ruth. His companion Brenda Dodson, special cat Miss Kitty, as well as four nieces, five nephews, three great nieces, ten great nephews and numerous cousins.
Curtis' birth year designated him as a member of the Silent Generation. The Silent Generation began life during some of the most challenging times in history, including the Great Depression. They are described as Thrifty, Respectful, Loyal, Determined and Hard Working. Curtis certainly embodied those traits being a very respectful southern gentleman, loyal and devoted to his family, friends, and employers alike. Hard working is an understatement regarding Curtis. Determined to stay independent, he remained hauling mail for the US Postal Service instead of seeking retirement. Making daily runs from Charlottesville, VA to Baltimore, MD and Richmond VA, 5-6 nights, a week until the day his illness prevented him to drive his tractor trailer; just 2 months shy of his 85 th birthday.
A celebration of his life will be conducted, August 28 th at 2:00pm at Etlan Community Church, Church Hill Road/Rt 643, followed by a covered dish and time spent with family and friends in the Fellowship Hall immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made in his name to Children's Home Society of Richmond, VA, or American Stroke Association.
