With heavy hearts we announce that our beloved Daniel Ramos, affectionately known as ‘Cano’, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully in his sleep, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Bethany Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Daniel was born on March, 20, 1954 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico in the heart of El Yunque rainforest. He was a country boy through and through, a true ‘jibaro de verdad.’ In his late teens he moved to upstate New York with his oldest brother and then eventually settled in Paterson, New Jersey. He left Puerto Rico to seek out better job opportunities, but also had an incredible challenge of not knowing English. He would spend lots of time reading the newspaper and watching TV to learn this difficult language, and eventually became fluent (with a thick Spanish accent, of course.)

Daniel worked for over 20 years as a master bookbinder for Horowitz & Sons in Paterson, NJ all the way until the company was bought out. Out of 300+ employees, only Daniel and one other employee were retained in the buyout. That company was headquartered in Nashville, TN, where Daniel then relocated and worked another 20+ years. He took great pride in providing educational resources for countless individuals around the country and across the world.

In his spare time, he loved pitching in competitive fast-pitch softball and won numerous trophies and trips to both Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. He was a huge fan of the New York Yankees, and baseball in general. If there was a baseball game on, he was watching it. In his latter years he had a watching partner in Chico, an affectionate chihuahua who loved him dearly. He had an incredible sense of humor and was quick to lend a helping hand to those in need. He adored his grandchildren and was extremely proud to be ‘Papabuelo.’

He is predeceased by his father Ignacio Ramos Garcia, mother Jorgina Soto Feliciano, and elder brothers Isaiais Ramos Soto, Natanael Ramos Soto, and Marcellino ‘Pancho’ Ramos Soto.

He is survived by his wife Rocio Beltran and five children: Daniel (Rhonda) Ramos Jr., Melissa (Mark) Heller, Chany Ramos, Brigette Ramos, and Daniela Ramos. He is also survived by four beautiful grandchildren, Raelyn Joy Ramos, Emmie Grace Heller, Daniel Josiah Ramos III, and Anna Maria Rosales; his brother Abimael Ramos Soto and only sister, Miguelina Ramos Soto.
