Donald Robert Swartz

Donald Robert Swartz (July 1, 1956 - May 7, 2026). Don was a loving father, husband, brother, friend, and mentor, who took great pride in his work as a Civil Engineer. After working for Metro Nashville Traffic/Codes for over 15 years, he began working as the Town Engineer for the Town of Nolensville, retiring from that position after 20+ years of service. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn German, daughter Heather (Swartz) Lile and husband David Lile, daughter Alicia Swartz and partner Dustin Meier, step-son Victor Phelps, step-daughter Glory Phelps, granddaughters Reagan and Nora Lile, brothers Roger (Jude), Doug (Jill), and Eric (Kim), and former wife Patty Hendricks. He was preceded in death by former wife Terry Keller and by his sister Lucille (Danny Wilmouth).

Born in Illinois, Don had a passion for his family and for the beauty of nature. In his younger years, he spent time with his brothers hunting and traveling. He was an avid gardener, and was a skilled craftsman, restoring multiple historic homes in Old Hickory, TN. Through-out his life he was known a man who would help in any way he could, and who could fix just about anything. He was a doting parent, who adored time with his children and grandchildren. To his colleagues he was indispensable for his deep knowledge, his attention to detail, and his focus on always doing what is right. Prior to his retirement, he and his wife Carolyn began traveling, taking on new adventures, and working together on creative projects. He was cherished by so many as an amazing, strong, and honest human, and will be remembered and loved always. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the Audubon Society.
