Jayda Marlene (Cox) Craig, 53, passed away October 28, 2022, in Nashville, Tenn. She was born on November 17, 1968, to Connie (Williams) and Robert T. Cox in Kalamazoo.
She grew up as a member of Bible Baptist Church in Kalamazoo where she came to know the Lord. Jayda graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1986, where she was an active member of the school basketball team, journalism staff, and other extracurricular activities. After being diagnosed with cancer during her junior year, she persevered and motivated her class as the keynote commencement speaker. She studied communications at Tennessee State University and worked in financial aid and other administrative positions in Michigan and California. Jayda was ordained as an evangelist in 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee where she had a passion for street ministry.
Jayda was a poet and published author who also founded Honey Talk Live, a podcast ministry to inspire others through Christ. She worked as a freelance graphic designer for various ministries to create flyers, posters, and other Christian promotional materials.
Jayda was proceeded in death by her father, Robert T. Cox. Her mother, Connie Embra, passed away on November 2, days after her daughter went home to be with the Lord.
She is survived by her four children, Jacques and Jade Kessee, and Jolani and Jalayah Craig; brothers Michael Williams of Kalamazoo, MI, and Darrell (Nikki) Williams of Mansfield, TX; Robert Cox Jr.; sisters; Wendy Brown and Felicia Cox, both of Kalamazoo, Brandi Cox; three grandchildren, Landon and Isaac Kessee and Efrem N Amis; several nieces and nephews, many other family members and friends.
