Joseph F. Miszkiel, fondly known to many as "Joe Sonic" and "Mopar Joe," passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family and friends. Born on November 4, 1949, in Scranton, PA, Joseph lived a life marked by devotion, bravery, and generosity.
Joseph was the cherished son of the late Joseph A. and Mary A. Miszkiel. He joins them and his brother, Leonard Miszkiel, in eternal peace. He is survived by his loving daughters, Jennifer Mitchko (Michael) and Rebecca Miszkiel, his brother Richard, and sister Susan. His legacy continues through his nephew Chris (Kim), nieces Nicole and Melissa, numerous cousins, and his beloved dogs Dixie and Max, as well as his grandpups.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Joseph's strong work ethic was evident from a young age, starting with a newspaper route before high school. He later became an over-the-road truck driver, a career he passionately pursued until retirement. Joseph's dedication extended beyond his professional life into his personal passions and community involvement.
An avid car enthusiast, Joseph's heart was always with his classic cars, particularly his Plymouth GTX, Plymouth Roadrunner, and Plymouth Satellite. These vehicles were more than just cars; they were a bridge to lifelong friendships with Keith, Lou, Rob, and many others in the car community. Weekends were often spent at car shows, where Joseph's knowledge and passion for automobiles shone brightly.
Joseph also found joy in simpler pleasures, such as spending Sundays with Rebecca, enjoying crossword puzzles, or cheering on the Pittston Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Kansas City Chiefs. His generosity was evident in his regular donations to various charities, reflecting his compassionate spirit and dedication to helping others.
Joseph's family will always remember his bravery, determination, and vast knowledge. His unwavering dedication to his loved ones and community has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we celebrate Joseph's life, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of his generous spirit.
He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
