Rita "Sue" Newby, age 88, passed away on May 24, 2023 in Woodbury, TN.

Sue graduated from Centertown High School in 1953, she trained as a nurse in McMinnville under the supervision of Dr. Ralph Moore, eventually relocating to Nashville, where she continued her nursing career in the field of Dermatology and later the Miller Medical Group as a  pediatric nurse and where she eventually retired.

Sue's faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a member of Cornerstone Church in Madison, TN. In later years, she relocated to Smyrna, TN, to be closer to her son and family.

Among her interests was her love and knowledge of antiques of which she became an accomplished dealer. She also loved and wrote poetry from a young age.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Etta Whitlock - Hughes, and her sisters Eveilee Hughes and Geneva Jordan. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Sherie) Cartwright, three grandchildren (Allison Brownlow, Anna Hopper, and Maggie Cartwright) and four great-grandchildren, niece Ann (Joe) Grissom, nephews, Lee (Diane) Jordan, Ralph Jordan and special friends and colleagues Chis Robinson and Joe Nuckoles "The Boys", from Robinson Flea Market, Madison, TN.

Visitation and Service for Rita Sue Newby will be Saturday, June 10, 2023 with Visitation at 10:00 am, followed by the Service at 11:00 am at Charles Creek, Baptist Church of Christ, McMinnville, TN  37110
