Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Say ( SavanhXai) Saysombath, who departed from this world on February 16, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on August 10, 1961, in Savannakhate, Laos, Say was a beacon of joy and laughter whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Say was the beloved son of Sangvan and Bouathong Saysombath, who preceded him in death, alongside his brothers Somvang and Southabanlang. Despite the loss of his immediate family, Say's spirit and kindness lived on through the many cherished friends and especially family members he leaves behind, all of whom were beneficiaries of his big heart and infectious humor.

Say dedicated almost 20 years of his life to working at Nissan to provide for his family. His educational journey led him to earn an associate degree in Electrical Maintenance from Opelika Technical College, equipping him with the skills that fueled his professional achievements. He was able to accomplished all this despite lack of high school diploma and having just resettled in America and a few years learning English.

Beyond his employment, Say was a man of many passions. He found immense joy in playing the guitar and bass in a band, often immersing himself in music with his family. His role as a sound engineer allowed him to share his love for music with others, creating beautiful moments that will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to experience them.

Say's hobbies extended beyond music; he was an avid soccer enthusiast in his younger years and loved to cook, often sharing delicious meals with friends and loved ones. His zest for life was apparent in everything he did. He had a unique ability to bring people together, often filling the room with laughter and warmth. He enjoyed staying in touch and sharing stories with old friends and his former cadet group across the US.

A funeral service to honor Say's life will be held on February 22, 2025, at Life Point Church 506 Legacy Dr, Smyrna, TN 37167. Visitation will be from 1pm to 2pm with a funeral service to follow at 2pm.

Say Saysombath's life was a testament to a life of tenacity , love of family and community. He had suffered much as a young Royal Lao Army Cadet when he was captured by the communist in the early 70's. He eventually managed to escape, and help his youngest brother Sackda Saysombath to escape to a refugee camp in Thailand and  eventually joining us in America as a family. His laughter, kindness, and passion for life will continue to inspire those he has left behind. While we mourn the loss of a dear friend, brother, and son, we also celebrate the vibrant legacy he has created through the lives he touched and the memories he cherished. Say's spirit will live on in the hearts of many, and he will forever be remembered for his warm heart and joyous spirit.
