Susan D Jones of Cookeville TN, passed Sunday, January 2nd, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born December 15, 1948 in Nashville, TN, she was the only child of William Alfred Jones and Annie Laura Baker Jones. She was the half-sister of William A. Jones and Rev. David M. Jones. She graduated from Isaac Litton High School, class of 1968. She then attended Peabody College at Vanderbilt University receiving a degree in Biology. After working as a nurse during the 70s, she married John F K Jones of Ohio on 27 May 1980, with whom she had two children. As the marriage did not last, Susan supported her children with the help of her mother, Annie, before her passing in 2003. Susan worked as a social worker with the TN Department of Human services for over 25 years. After retiring in 2009, she spent most of her time helping to care for her two grandchildren while making many wonderful memories together. She loved spending cool evenings sitting under her Mimosa Tree by her Koi Pond watching birds. She was a life-long learner and stayed up to date with current events, technology, and music. She was an expert at crossword puzzles and an avid genealogical researcher in her spare time. Having natural artistic talent she taught herself how to paint and produced several beautiful paintings which will continue to be treasured by her family. She is survived by her children, Janelle and Jonathan, grandchildren, Noah and Tyler, her beloved pet lovebird Peachy, and extended family and friends.
