THOMAS GLYNDWR JONES
8/14/1941- 5/11/2026 Thomas “Tom” Jones (84), a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and lifelong servant of God, passed away on May 11th, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and community service. Born and raised in Wales, Great Britain, Tom dedicated his life to ministry, family, and helping others. Tom graduated from Clifton Theological College, Bristol and was ordained in the Church of England in 1966 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. He began his ministry as a curate at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in London before moving to the United States, where he faithfully served as rector at several churches: Christ Church in Fairfield, Alabama (1969-1973), Grace Episcopal Church in Anniston, Alabama (1972-1987), and Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, Georgia (1987-2004). Tom’s passion for evangelism, preaching, teaching, and missions was a hallmark of his ministry. He was a founding board member of the South American Missionary Society and worked tirelessly to make a difference in people’s lives. His community spirit helped establish the Anniston Soup Bowl and the Calhoun Hospice Association, reflecting his heart for service beyond the church walls. Tom and his beloved wife Nan (Fager) celebrated 60 years of marriage last year, a testament to their enduring partnership and love. Together they raised two children, Steven Jones and Sheryl Jones Findley, and were proud grandparents to Aidan, Evan, and Caelyn. Family was at the center of Tom’s life, and his love for them was immeasurable. Tom and Nan shared a love of travel and adventure, exploring destinations across the United Kingdom, Europe, Hawaii, Africa, New Zealand, Alaska, the Holy Lands, and beyond. An avid outdoorsman and craftsman, Tom treasured his time in the mountains of North Carolina, where he helped build a family cabin, enjoyed fly-fishing, and poured his creativity into carpentry projects. At home, he delighted in his intricate model train set and weekend motorcycle rides in his younger years. He was known for his warmth, gregarious spirit, and sense of humor that brought joy to friends and family alike. Above all, Tom was a man of deep faith with a servant’s heart, whose life was an example of love and dedication to the Lord. A funeral will be held on Friday, May 22, at St. Patrick’s Anglican Church (7103 Baker Road, Murfreesboro, TN). Visitation with the family will be at 1pm. The Funeral will be held at 2pm with a reception to follow. All events will take place at St. Patrick’s.
